However, your visit is soon interrupted by the arrival of the Celestial threat of Eson the Searcher, who has stolen an advanced Xandarian device known as the Cosmic Generator, and seeks to use it to travel back to the dawn of time and Set Wrong What Was Once Made Right by remaking the world devoid of Terrans. Wanting to establish a link with other worlds, the Nova Corps have set up shop at World Discovery (at the suggestion of one Peter Quill/Star-Lord, a fan of the original EPCOT Center prior to his abduction) with this showcase of Xandar and its culture. The ride starts out at the Wonders of Xandar pavilion, the park’s first "Other-World Showcase". note Due to Marvel's original licensing deal with Universal Studios Orlando that predates Disney's acquisition of the company in 2009, Disney is limited in what they can do with Marvel in Florida. Located in the space formerly occupied by Universe of Energy and its successor Ellen's Energy Adventure, it is the second attraction based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Guardians of the Galaxy film series following California Adventure’s Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, and the first attraction based on a Marvel property to open at the Florida Disney parks. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is an indoor roller coaster located at Walt Disney World‘s Epcot, opened to the public on May 27, 2022.
